Long time listener, first time poster. Fairly new to doing my own plumbing, but reasonably savvy with other home renovation work.
Anyhow, I'm in the process of finishing out a daylight basement. My house is built into the side of a hill and the main soil stack drops in the void down from the first floor. The venting picture is less obvious - but there are at least a few that reach the roofline.
1. I have access to a 2" vent from the first-floor WC. it seems that it should be possible to tie into this vent line at some point. My question is where. It would be MUCH easier to cut in a tee at the location marked "tie in here" and connect a 2" vent to serve to the basement. However, I can see a situation where a backup in the first-floor WC's waste line (say, just before it connects to the main soil stack) would result in waste trying to drain through the new vent. That seems not great.
2. If that assumption is accurate, I could potentially tie in to the same stack, just above the fill level of the first-floor toilet, yes? In the case of a blockage, then I'd at least see the **** hit the floor, so to speak.
3. If for whatever reason neither of those is an option, would a 2" AAV work to vent the basement lav and WC?
4. My drawing skills are subpar. The new lav drain/wet vent would tie into the basement WC downstream of the closet elbow (and from above) to provide appropriate air.
Or should I just give up and go back to trying to electrocute myself?
