I'm renovating/ adding a bathroom and need to run new wast lines. See attached. It's a tricky old house with lots of obstructions. The wall between the shower and toilet is the easiest place to run the vents when compared to the back wall.

Two questions:

Can a common vent be used for a toilet and shower as shown? If not what would be the easiest variation from the arrangement shown.

Can a vent be run out of the house horizontally. It would come out the wall under a non-venting soffit.

Any other concerns with the attached?

Thanks in advance.

Is there an advantage to using a side inlet? Are both (side inlet tee & stacked tees), code compliant? (In sc)

you can do it your way if

the pipe in between the toilet tee and the shower tee is 3'', as per 908.2 upc

UPC 908.2
The vertical piping between any two (2) consec
utive inlet levels shall be considered a
wet-vented section. Each wet-vented
section shall be a minimum of one
(1) pipe size larger than the
required minimum waste pipe size of the upper fixture or
shall be one (1) pipe
size larger than the sum
of the fixture nits served by such wet-vented secti
on, whichever is larger, but
in no case less than two
(2) inches

2'' is minimum size for a shower
