Utility Sink Installation
Hi everyone, first post here. I wish to install a utility sink.
What is the best way to connect the sink drain pipes and Water?

I have two places where I would like the sink to be installed:
GARAGE: I prefer to have the sink installed in the garage which would be on the left of the pipes and through the wall into the garage. (I realize it would be a lot more work)
LAUNDRY ROOM: on the right of the pipes.
Pictures where taken before drywall was installed. I have a dryer an washer in place.
Thanks for the help.

PS: This is a two-story townhouse.

Thanks Frodo. This helps me a lot!

Now, if I were to install the sink in the garage can I do the same? but of course the horizontal pipe to the left trough the wall? That Horizontal pipe will be about 6 feet long. I see the pipe will run in front of the dryer wall vent box, but I think it will not interfere with the dryer flexible vent hose.

Thanks again!

PS: I live in Orlando, Florida if that helps to identify applicable codes.

Thanks Frodo!. I will go the garage route. I have some concerns here:

1) I'm not sure how to replace the 3" Wye with a Double Wye. It is very close to the floor. There seems to be about 1.5 inches between the Wye and the Floor. Maybe I have to break into the concrete? is there a way to remove the wye without breaking the pipe coming up from the floor, So the new double wye could be glued at the same position as the one removed?

2) The garage floor is about 6" lower than the laundry room. So maybe I can put some concrete blocks underneath the sink to raise it up a little? Maybe build a platform with 2x6 lumbers (the green ones).

3) Could I move the dryer vent box up enough as to install the 2" horizontal pipe through the studs towards the garage? And if so, Can I use a 45 bent to connect that horizontal pipe to the new double wye? See Picture.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks again Frodo. Great tip.
I read a little bit in the Florida Building Codes. It seems it is ok If I move the Dryer bent box upwards a little up.
Also after taking some measurements and calculations It seems with 4 concrete blocks (home Depot) the sink can be raise 4 inches off the floor. So, it should be ok.

One question:

The PVC Pipe will go through that yellow barrier which is a Fire barrier between the Garage and laundry Room. It seems I have to use something to keep the fire barrier rating. Intumescent pipe collars seems to be a great option with PVC pipes. Am I at the right track here? Will I only need a pipe collar on each side without any fire barrier caulking?

thanks

3 hour rating, you need this collar, AND fire caulk to seal the wall to collar annular space
