when run water, either shower, toilet flush, water faucet, the pressure gauge remains at 50 psi and then the water has a fluctuating surge sound. There is also a click click sound every several seconds. From what I've researched, this isn't normal. This sound is the well pump on/off. What steps should I take to troubleshoot. Thanks for any assistance.

Thanks Matt30 for replying. but when I tap on the bottom and then top of the pressure tank, the sound differs which means there's water below the diaphram and air on top, the way it should be. Should i try draining water and checking the air pressure?

The bladder in the tank is most likely bad. You might want to research how to eliminate pump cycling, as that is what breaks bladders and destroys pumps.
