Two storey, single, detached house with bsmt. Top floor bathroom has toilet, sink and shower/bath. (Total Reno last year). No other fixtures on top floor.

Toilet backed up and I ‘flushed’ the wax ring apart causing a bit of water to drip through floor area. I then removed the toilet from its flange mount and I can see standing water in the 3” ABS drain. If I fill up the drain with water it will go down about 1” per minute.
The bath will run all day without blockage. Same with the sink. Nothing else in the house is blocked. The toilet drain is only about 4’ from the main drain.

I believe the blockage should be between the opening of the drain and the main drain tee-in, however I have augered (snaked) the toilet to the full 25’ length of the auger and no joy. I have spent a couple of hours angering, and it does nothing at all. Tried Drano to no avail.

I’m open to ANY suggestions. Like I said, the other fixtures drain fine. Just the 3” toilet drain is plugged.

Wife had poured that ‘no flush’ paper pellet kitty litter down the toilet just before the clog....so I’m assuming that caused it......but the snake should clear that, no?

Would that enzyme stuff work?

Cheers,
Karl

the cat litter was probably the cause.....when you snake the drain leave the standing water in the drain....when its cleared the water will go away...then open the toilet supply
and let te water run for a few minutes...

Tried the garden hose trick and it worked perfectly. I remounted the toilet and chased it with a 5 gallon bucket of warm, soapy water for good measure. Thanks
