Hi folks, the pipes testing company generates these leak reports and fix
proposal (see links below), a few questions:

Here are the details.

1. I wondering why the line even needs to be capped off since it supposedly sloped downwards anyways? Are they saying the toilet's gray water may flow onto that uncapped line if we don't cap it.

2. Also, when they do dig the the tunnel per the drawing, is it digging DOWN a few feet (how many feet?) and 8 feet x ? feet INTO (thus under the house) it so the plumber can jump down that big hole to cap it off?

3. I am in the Sun Belt, how much do you think I expect to pay for the proposed fix?

4. We have more brawn than we have cash, would we some money if I dig/refill it myself and just let the plumber do the real plumbing works? If so, should I rent an mini-excavator?

I've noticed many experts here have avoided touching your question, and I believe I can understand why. The questions you ask should be answered by the plumbers hired to do the job, not someone sitting in a livingroom 2500 miles away.

You can always do some of the work you feel qualified to do, but keep in mind that this will change the prices set by the plumbers hired to do the job. Your best bet is to contact at least three qualified plumbers, and get quotes from all three.
