Im installing a Fantech inline exhaust fan as part of my bathroom remodel. Rather than cut another hole in my roof to vent the fan, I'm wondering if I can connect to the 4 inch pvc vent pipe that is already in place. With a wye it looks like i can push the air right up the pipe without causing any back pressure. Any problems with this? Thanks!

No sir you can not do that,

the vent system, gets a rather foul smell of sewer gas up and out of the house.

if you hooked the duck to the vent pipe, when ever the fan was not running, your house would smell like a perpetual

fart, on top of that, sewer gas [methane] is explosive.

the fan is electric.....that would not do at all.

smiley-hug010.gif nice try ! I admire your out of the box thinking,

Thank you for the quick response. Much appreciated!

Actually saw this once. Homeowner who did it couldn't understand why his bathroom always smelled so bad after the remodel
