Tankless water heater

I have a Navien tankless heater and really like it. However as all mechanical devises, it will break (which it has done yesterday). My idea going forward if it breaks again is to insert valves in hot and cold lines to temporarily hook up small 110volt heater. Does anyone have better idea for a temporary source of hot water?

Sounds like a plan, In my experience Navien is the worst.....and I never pass up the opportunity to say so.

How about doing a 40gal electric tank that’s fed by a tankless ? That’s the cats butt in my opinion. Pipe it so you can bypass either one and operate just one source.

I have a better idea. After the 40 gallon tanked water heater, add a 40 gallon natural gas water heater. That would be a tri-powered system.

Better yet, 4th in line could be to borrow someone's grandma with a 20 gallon kettle over a wood fire, to ensure ample hot water. They say quad-powered is the bomb!

Heater repaired. Lee Company tech from Nashville came out yesterday. Internal check Valve failed and piece of plastic lodged in flow sensor. Happy to have hot water! Oh, by the way, tech works on all brands and in his opinion, the Navien is the best!

I have a 50 gallon gas Rheem being fed by the Rheem tankless. Think all tankless (as compared to tanked units) are finicky, and yes they do require maintenance, but IMO its worth the minimal hassle. With that being said there have been a "few" times I was glad the tanked unit was there.

Yes. Redundancy isn’t as important on a tankless as on an F35!
