Hello all,
I had a question about my current sump pump set up. My house is on a 2 acre lot. They back filled my lawn area with sand and just enough topsoil to grow grass. The perimeter of the lawn is regular forest floor for several feet until hitting any neighbor's property line.
There must be some underground stream near my home because my sump pump runs regularly year round. In the springtime the sump clicks on every 5 min and during drier times, maybe every 30 min. It sucks because I constantly worry about losing power or a failed pump but I do have backup and an alarm.
Anyway, the sump pumps under the lawn area out to the edge where lawn meets forest floor at a low area. That means there is always a swampy area out there. This causes increases in mosquitos and has led to me losing trees as the water rots out the roots of some trees causing them to fall. I need a better solution to the whole darn thing. Any ideas to alternatives to removing water from the basement or better ways to put the water after the sump pumps it out.
Thanks
