Installed a new sink in bathroom.

Had to replace sink shut off valves because the old ones were shot.

Bought the "push on" kind.

Cleaned copper stub outs and filed ends smooth

pushed shut off valve on as stated in directions

3 months later wake up at 3 am to find living room ceiling caving in - water everywhere

Thankfully, home insurance is covering it, but I still have a $1k deductible. Can I sue the manufacturer in small claims for an obviously defective product?

It wasn't installed by a professional so it may be hard. In some cases I have had to use them and not once have I ever heard of or saw one come off that was installed properly. Do as you please but in my opinion it's probably gonna wind up costing you more money on a lawyer and whatever else than what'll you get back. What manufacturer was it out of curiosity?

What is your water pressure in your home? Is there anything regarding the pressure on the written instructions?

I will tell you that most members who frequent this forum only consider the use of a Sharkbite type fitting as a temporary fix, and will never use them within a sealed up wall.
