I recently got a pair of Moen faucets for my bathroom sinks. After installation I noticed a weird taste in the water. It was a chemically sort of taste - like left over machine oil or some such. I figured it would wash out after a week or so, but it's been 3 months and it's still there.

Any ideas what may be causing it and/or how to fix it?

Take the aerators out and see if anything is in them. Flush them out backwards and see if that helps. Try using without
aerator a couple times and see if there is any difference.

Could be the water supply lines you used unless they were built into the faucets.

Call moen.

If you purge the faucet for a few seconds does it still taste bad ?

I did install new water lines leading from the the shut off valves to the faucet- they're the flexible metal mesh ones (whatever those are called.)

It does get better if I purge it, but it takes more than a few seconds.

Replace the water supply lines first.

Use a different brand than you have now.

Should I use the flexible metal ones or the old fashioned plastic ones? Moen recommended the flexible metal mesh ones.

Note that the braided stainless lines still have a 'rubber' hose in the middle, and with Chinese manufacturers and quality control being the way they are, you could have _anything_, so as TWH recommended, try a different brand.
