I have a standing drain pipe in our basement that our washer empties into. This drain pipe backed up three years ago and now is starting to back up again. It spills over the pipe onto the floor. Last time we had a professional plumber come to chemically clean the drain. Now has started again . I think the drain clogs due to grease from my clothes which Are especially grimey . is there a way to prevent this from happening over again?

the drain should be 2" and there should be a cleanout. hard to tell from where i sit that your pipes are a problem or not
Snaking a drain can normally restore decent pipes.

I'm surprised that a "professional plumber" would just use a chemical drain cleaner. In any case, as breplum said, the drain should be snaked to clean out any accumulated crud. Most drain cleaners should be left on the store shelves, IMHO.
