I was helping a single older woman friend today by installing a new faucet in her kitchen and a new dishwasher. Everything leaked in that kitchen. The main pump drive on the dishwasher which damaged the floor in the family room, the shut off valves were leaking and basically didn’t work, the garbage disposal was leaking, and the faucet itself was leaking in several places. Anyway got it all in.
I’d like to rebuild those shutoffs. They are 90 degree, soldered in place onto copper tube. Pretty standard ⅜” compression outlet. The handles indicate they are Eastman Speedflex. Attached is a photo of the stem I removed.
What am I looking to buy and where? I can’t remove one and go anywhere with it so thought I’d ask the pros here. I bet some of you could go in your truck blindfolded and pull out the right part or parts.

Easiest option is to just buy new Eastman multi-turn angle stops, take out the works and insert into the old.

If you want to torture yourself, try to find a small-enough bibb washer at the hardware store, but the packing is not available as far as I remember.

You could just buy brasscraft and rob the rubber parts off it.

Or you’ll need to buy some Eastman valves and rob parts, or see if they sell a replacement stem.

You can get the washers and the bonnet packing from supplyhouse.com

search Brasscraft stop valve repair Parts. The rubber parts are the same between those two brands, or close enough.

Update: the replacement Eastman valve innards didn’t work in a swap…the valve stem changed from brass to plastic. Moved from new valve to old and leaked like a sieve. That’s the bad news.

The good news is that the two rubber gaskets and spring washer from the new valves did fit on the old brass stem.

All is well.

Brasscraft plastic and metal stems will usually interchange.

The straight stop configuration stem is shorter than the angle stop stem. The straight stop stem won’t work in an angle valve. Angle stop stem will work in a straight stop.

Not many Eastman brand stops around here that I’ve found.

When I run into a problem I just change the rubber parts or just go ahead and replace the entire stop valve.
