Should the nut on the toilet float valve be flush against tank?

Hello. I'm not very handy but managed to change out my toilet float valve. It's not leaking (I made it handy tight but it's very tight). However, I noticed it's not quite flush under the bowl. Since it's not leaking, should I just leave it alone? Again, I'm not great with this stuff and worried I'll make it worse? Thanks for any help. Pic included. Happy Holidays

No problem.

The china surfaces on the tank are never perfectly flat, they are also often rough or bumpy on the inside.
