Hello.
I live in a single-family home in Chicago, IL. My home was built about 50-60 years ago. Therefore, our sewer pipe is probably made of clay.
A portion of our sewer pipe is malfunctioning. A plumber has offered to replace an 8-foot section of our old sewer pipe with a brand new 8-foot section of clay pipe. He will charge $3800, plus $425 for permits, fees, etc.
He offers a lifetime warranty on his labor. However, he said that, because he did not manufacture the pipe that he will be using, he can not offer any warranty on the pipe. He said that his pipe supplier will not offer a warranty, either. Furthermore, he said that nobody offers warranties on sewer pipes, throughout the plumbing industry.
Is it true that no one offers warranties on sewer pipes?
