In selecting a 10-inch-depth single bowl sink to replace a 9-inch-depth double bowl, I want to make things as easy as possible for the installing plumber and subsequent plumbers. My concern is that a center drain with waste disposer will make it very tough to get to the copper plumbing and supply lines. Should I select a right or left drain sink to make installation or future repairs easier? Also: Any opinions on brands or 16 vs 18 gauge for the sink or faucet brand recommendations? I'm looking at the fast connect Glacier Bay pull-down sprayer line for the faucet and a Ruvati sink. Thanks in advance.

I think you should get your drainage plumbing straightened out.
You need a tee and an air admittance valve and a p trap.

Thanks, yes, all that you see would be redone correctly, I would hope, when the plumber puts in the new sink. There's no point straightening out this mess with the old sink, I figure. My question is what drain location in the new single-bowl sink would make it easiest for the plumber and for subsequent plumbers. Left, right or center drain?

The easiest installation would be to allow as much room from the disposal discharge and the drain in the cabinet floor. So, leaving the garbage disposal close to where it is now would be best meaning the sink should have a right drain.

Thanks! That makes perfect sense.

I’ve had exceptional results with stainless steel sinks made by Ruvati, purchased from Amazon online. The highest quality at the least price. I don’t think you would be disappointed. I bought a large, deep single bowl for a kitchen—came with a colander, a cutting board, and a grate for the bottom. I also bought a different one to replace that infernal 😡 awful cheap plastic POS the builder installed in the laundry room. Very pleased I did that, too. Ruvati—look them up.

Deep(10 inch) with a corner drain(Elkay makes a beauty). 18 gauge, type 304 nickel bearing stainless. part number EGUH28161R. Having the drain in the corner frees up a lot of space under the cabinet ..

Thanks to all of you on the suggestions. I'm right with your logic tree of what to lok for. Looking for 16 gauge (the lowest I can find, it seems,) 10 deep single bowl, and right drain. I'm glad to hear of good experiences with Ruvati and Elkay as both are in my saved list. So far the best I've come up with is all the other specs but only 9.5 depth. That will probably be the winner. I like colander and cutting board arrangement. Much appreciated, all.
