Hi,

I'm installing a water softener and would like to get some opinion if a sediment water filter is required\good to have, before a water softener when using city water.
The water here is hard to very hard and the taste is not good.
I was planning to do the following:
- Have a sediment filter before the softener (salt based)
- Have a Carbon filter after the softener
I'm assuming the carbon filter will help with the taste but I'm not sure if the sediment is really needed as I'm using city water.

Any recommendation?

Thanks!

City water can have sediments and other junk in it. Just depends on how old the water system is.
