I'm trying to replace a Kohler 30002 cartridge with the replacement cardridge GP330004....the replacement cartridge doesn't have the top parts on the stem that the original has....the threaded part that threads into the faucet and the nut that tightens it into the faucet - just has a bare stem on the replacement. I was told by Kohler that the old parts can be taken off the original stem and put on the new stem.......how is that done? I am soaking the part in vinegar as suggested by Kohler......but am worried the parts may not be removable.....![IMG_0641.JPG IMG_0641.JPG](https://cdn2.imagearchive.com/plumbingforums/data/attachments/45/45906-76960605c9d0b8631bafa84f8a7a1716.jpg)

Are the old stems available anywhere that include the nut and threaded area?
