I didn't want to put this in the tubs section, this is sort of the ******* child of tubs.

This job is literally walking distance away. It's our next-door neighbor's, way up the hills, the spa is located in an incredibly private location.

It's at least 20 years old, the water a few years back started draining to about the halfway level. Three different jet ports are right about the top of that water level. Nothing responds to controls, God only knows what is bad.

The tub itself is an excellent condition, no sign of cracks at all.

They had to have this one lifted in by a crane. Minimum cost for a new model is $8500 not counting install of course.

Some of the new models have maybe 40 to 50 jet ports. Every one of them an opportunity for a leak someday.

I didn't count them, but this one has about 12 ports. I would have to take out all the wooden siding which is not in great shape anyway to put in new gaskets and get access to all the hardware. There appears to be a lot of rat issues, a lot of chewed up insulation in evidence, maybe chewed wires as well.

What do you think, am I a fool to consider it? I'm finding access to generic replacement "spa packs" online.
