Hello,

I had a local plumber install a Halo water conditioner. I just noticed that he installed the H5-100 (1" version) instead of the H5-150 (1.5" version).

To do this, he reduced my water main from 1.5" to 1". Here's the pictures. Does this cause any problems? Do I specifically need the H5-150 to be up to code?

Thanks for any insight.

Hi D, the answer is unlikely. The narrow line makes water run faster and pressure head drop increases. But for a short run, it will be minor losses. The code requires to have minim pressure at fixtures, so if you see detectable flow loss at your shower or toilet, take it from there.

Thanks for the response. The pressure seems okay at our fixtures. I just saw conflicting information about reducing the main before the conditioner, so I figured I'd ask here.

Is this in an apartment complex?? Not to many 1.5 main water lines in a residential unless you have one of those huge houses

I'm on a well, maybe that is why? It's not a huge house, but the builders were sort of strange and seemed to have over engineered some aspects of the house.
They probably took bad advice off a forum if they did the owner builder thing.
