I am currently building a new home in a small town(pop. 2200) outside Houston,TX, My city said I need to install an RPZ on my side of the meter before they will give me service and it needed to be installed 6" to 12" off the ground. I talk to my neighbor and he said his builder put a low end RPZ and he lost alot of pressure, and he had to replace it already and cost him about $500.00 .
Does anyone have any input on what brand or type that they would reccomend? and maybe the cost i will be looking at?
Thanx

I install a lot of Watts model 009's here in CA and they are very reliable and I have never noticed a decrease in pressure. The whole assembly may cost about 500 but the device itself should be much much cheaper. Rarely do I see these RP's installed on residential applications. Here is how I build mine.

Wouldn't the pressure loss be reduced if you were to utilize brass 45's instead of brass 90's in all 4 corners, or would it be insignificant?

Most standards don't let you use 45's, at least in CA there is none that I know of. This is the only way I have built them.
