Recommendations for Auto shutoff options for my situation.

I got an email from Moen today promoting their Flo Smart Water Monitor and Shutoff and their Smart Leak Detectors. I know the OP said he wasn't a fan of wireless, but this equipment looks like it works both with and without wireless. The Flo Smart Monitor will shut off the water based on water flow, or it can be triggered by a signal from a Smart Leak Detector. The Smart Leak Detectors are powered by a lithium battery that can last two years. They connect to your WiFi and can be placed in various locations as desired. They come with a small sensor, or you can buy a cable that acts as a sensor. The system will notify you if a leak is detected.

The reason I have yet to purchase the Moen Smart Leak Detector is due to the fact that I have a new washer, where it will dump massive amounts of water into the basin quickly. I'm wondering if that massive flow would trigger the sensor to shut off my water? I know I tried those smart flow washing machine hoses, but needed to reset the switch every day because of the flow rate. I know the Smart Leak Detector is suppose to learn times and flow rates based on past history, but I hate to spend $500 and find out it doesn't work with the new "high efficiency" washers?

The Moen controller says it takes months to analyze your water usage, and once you cut into your main water feed, it is cut for life. Sure, there are spacers and adapters that will reconnect the plumbing, but I'm hoping to research this deeper. Also, since this is installed as the primary ground, what does this do to your electricity?

I believe I’ll be installing a 1” moen flo valve soon. I’ve been reading about them.

I agree it is not inexpensive, especially if you opt for the battery backup. You could easily be all in for $1,000 if you buy several Smart Monitors. However, most reviews are positive. Can't you professionals get one at wholesale cost and test it for us?

I do have an automatic water shutoff on my tank water heater on the second floor. It will just shut the water off to the water heater if it senses a leak.

Luckily, I haven't had too many water leak issues in my 50+ years of home ownership. I've had a few toilets that kept running after being flushed, and I had a couple of fill valve seals leak where they fit in the tank. Also, years ago, our daughter's hamster chewed a hole in the plastic water line to our refrigerator.
