Hi All, I just moved into a new (to me) house that has an oil fired burner providing radiant heat and water (I think) for the house. I'm not a plumber and don't have any experience with these types of systems, so was looking for a little explanation on some of the functions of my system. Specifically, I've had the following in mind:

Are there any improvements or changes that more experienced users would recommend based on how things are currently setup?

One of the sections in the manual discusses the tankless water heater option, but I obviously have a 50 gallon tank plumbed in to the system as well. Could someone clarify the reasoning for this or am I misunderstanding something?

The manual outlines recommended maintenance, but are these generally reliable systems or are there common issues that I should keep an eye out for that may not be identified in the manual?

Thanks for any help, I know it's probably a little tricky to trace plumbing and identify certain things in the pictures, so if you need any clarification I could definitely provide it.20220114_152103.jpg20220114_152118.jpg20220114_152135.jpg

Is the piping from the boiler going directly into the water heater? It looks like you have an electric water heater

The piping is connected to the cold side of the 50gal tank and plumbed into the boiler as shown in blue on the marked up pictures. I *think* the hot side of the water tank goes off to various parts of the house. From my understanding, the heated water for the radiant system leaves the boiler on the top, so I guess one of my questions is why are there two pipes entering/leaving the front of the boiler behind what I think is called the "Combination Limit Control Box"? The line marked in green also appears to be hot water going throughout the house. Does it make any sense to have two sources of hot water?

I'm not there at the moment but will poke around the next time I am and try to confirm or reject anything stated above. 20220114_152103MarkUp.jpgEnlarged.jpg
