OK, so what is a GOOD toilet with a finish that holds up under hard water? Tired of spending $400-$600 for toilets that either do not clean, do not flush properly, and in 6 months develop a ring that only a pumice stone will remove until the porcelain is gone!

Avoid the big box stores, and try to find a local plumbing supplier. Toto is known for a good flush, but the water restrictor requirements are most of the problem. I have Niagara toilets here. They use .83 gallons per flush and flush everything, but we are in a real water conservation area.

TOTO Drake CST776CSFG with the 1.6 GPF tank
CST776CEFG with the 1.28 GPF tank.
They come with their good bowl finish that is easier to keep clean.

A family member clogs the AS Cadet3 (MAP score 1000) at least once a month due to insufficient fiber. We recently stayed with some people who had a Toto Drake and when I saw how little water was in the bowl, I thought heck no, pls don't clog that... It survived but we were only there a couple days. I'd love to send them to use a Vortens for a month to see if they can clog that - the pros here love them, but I don't know anyone (residential) that has one. Mostly we buy from the big box store not the plumbing wholesalers.

If you’re clogging the cadet 3 1.6gpm then the vorten won’t help you.

Noted. I'll tell them that but they think I cheaped out with the Cadet3 because they say the ones at school/work/grocery store don't clog. Though they did clog the one in a hotel recently. Sorry but I'm not buying a commercial toilet for my home...

God willing they're moving out next year so it'll be someone else's problem 😂

Speaking of toilets and, in this case, toilet seats, a person in my family who shall remain unnamed experiences something that he, or she, would like to eliminate. When getting up off the throne, the toilet seat sticks to his or her rear and releases slamming down making a loud noise. What can be done? Spray the seat with PAM or silicone spray? Maybe get a fur-lined seat?

As wrong as my imagination is, I just ordered and installed a two pack of Kohler soft close toilet seats from Costco, and notice the hole is much wider, and really comfortable. I would imagine that the less surface area, the less suction. Just an idea. Since I also despise seat movement at all, I added two rows of double sided foam sticky tabe on the hinge base before screwing it down, so it feels as solid as I have ever experienced.

Slip some Ex-Lax or Benefiber in their food and drink.
Believe me I've thought about doing that many times. But I think without adequate water intake, might make the problem worse. Imagine the horror of buying 3 new MAPscore-1000 toilets and having family member clog one in the first week. Then proceed to clog the others every month. No one else here does this. Got tired of plunger rotating between bathrooms (because I refuse to buy another) and finally told them to confine their business to one specific toilet. So that I can monitor that one more carefully for leaks. All that plunging can't be good for the wax seal. Literally counting the days until they move out. My plumbing will be thankful.

I've gotten another family member who does something similar to the seat. Their favorite toilet is the one with the non-electric bidet and it sticks up a bit in the back so the bidet can fit underneath. So when they get their wide-a** up, the increased distance from the sag causes the whole back of the seat to snap. I watch on in disbelief. I put a foam cushion between the back of the lid and the tank and it helps a bit. I thought about putting some more cushions under the seat in the back but with all that bidet water spraying back that, I cannot imagine how gross it would be. I told them they need to lose weight, in your case, moisturizing your body points of contact might suffice. Or get the seats havasu got.

Maybe for me, err, the other person's who has the sticky rear, the fix is a nice heavy wooden seat, vice the lightweight Bemis plastic seat current installed, that stays put in the down position unless lifted. I guess they make gentle quiet closing seating in enameled wood.
