I know little about plumbing but I am currently editing a plumbing and piping trades curriculum for schools. I noticed there is a reference several times to "tube and tubing", as in "the student will identify types of pipe, tube, and tubing, and describe their applications." This seems totally redundant to me. Is there a difference between tube and tubing? I almost deleted the reference to "tube" and then thought I better ask first.

copper is generally referred to as tube.
pipe is thick walled.
tubing....maybe that which comes on a roll...but interchangeable with tube.
