my water heater inlet fitting is leaking a bit so i was going to tighten it up or maybe replace the pipe. i never got that far because i noticed the hot water outlet is hooked to the cold water inlet and the inlet as the outlet. will i have a problem if i switch them back?? its been like this for about 11 years when the house was built.

i finally uncrossed the pipes and now the water heater works great. i even had to turn the temp down a bit. i used to have to turn the hot water valve pretty hot to get constant hot water, never ran out just had to turn it way up. now we get hotter water with a lower temp setting and it seems to be endless. wish i had noticed 3 yrs ago when we bought the house.
