packing nut in this type of valve?

any advice on stopping a slow leak from this type of valve? do I have to replace it?

cut it out if you can't solder there are compression ball
valves and couplings you can use .....I bet the screws
would just fall apart if you tried moving them

I cut it out and sweat in a new ball valve on a warm day. Need to work on my sweating skills and confidence
