I am replacing the hot and cold valves on my Kohler Forte two-handle bathroom faucet. What I though would be a somewhat easy repair turned out to be quite a chore.
I had to remove the sink bowl and remove the valve bodies from the sink. Then to remove the valve cartridge from the valve body I had to put the valve body in a vise, spray the cartridge threads with PBlaster, and use a deep well 1/2 socket wrench with a 3 foot extension to break the cartridge free. What a PITA! Now that I am putting in the new cartridges, I wonder what can be done so that the cartridges come out easier? First thought is to coat threads with never seize. Second thought is to wrap threads with teflon tape. Thoughts? other ideas?
I would replace the faucet with another brand but there are two sinks in the bathroom and one faucet R&R is enough for me......Thanks for your ideas.
