I just closed on a brand new home on Monday 2/28/. I have not even moved in yet. This evening I was looking at my water heater and I noticed the valve at bottom is starting to show signs of rust. The water heater is in the garage. I took this pic of unit Feb 6th just so I could look it up when I got home. This pic valve looks new. I did not take pic of what it looks like now. The valve is next to that red button you turn. Thoughts? Is this normal. I mean we only turned hot water on walk through the other day to see if it works and it did. Thankmyou

I installed a Rheem for my garage apartment and it leaked from day one. Slight leak.......it was outside in a little room under a storage area.

I let it leak for 4 yrs then called them and got another tank 🤡

If the valve isn't dripping or you see any water on the floor then I wouldn't worry about it.
