Hi folks. Just moved into a new house and got one of them tankless water heaters. I've never owned one of these before but starting do a little bit of research. To my understanding it seems that once our water gets hot it stays hot until the end of time. However, that's the pickle it takes quite some time for it to get hot from scratch. Our kitchen sink probably takes bout 5 mins or so give or take to get hot, which seems like a waste of water.

So it seems that a recirculating pump would assist in keeping water hot as a remedy to this problem. It seems that there is one of those attached to my unit, but if it's supposed to do this, why does it still take 5+ mins for my water to get hot in the kitchen, which is right next to the garage where my water heater resides? Are the settings on this recirculating pump set properly? I'm trying to find a guide on how to set the pump but I'm not having much luck. I believe you have to have the ticks set to UP if you want the pump to run during those hours?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'll attach some pics of what I have. I also have another unit attached, with "Mainline" not sure what this does. Is this a water softener perhaps? TIA

You could check to see if the HW is quicker during the hours of which the timer is set for. Continuous recirc gets some eye-brows raised depending on your locale.
