Hello all,

Have a background in electrical engineering and handy with DIY projects around the house but not much experience on GWH.

Just joined plumbingforums in an effort to get help with finding/identifying replacement Honeywell GCV for a Bradford White GWH.

Posted https://www.plumbingforums.com/threads/honeywell-wv8860q-1000-gas-control-valve.26550/, hoping that's the correct forum.

Thank you for any help + pointer + advice!

typically you either look up the part from the WH mfrs website or call the mfr cust service and give your model and SN and they will tell you the part.
Then locate a local BW dealer or EBAY or AMZ to find the exact control valve...but first, check Millivolts output to confirm that you have enough for the valve to work.

Thank you for breplum. While the pilot flame was heating up the thermocouple, saw the generated electricity powering the control board increasing to around 600 mV. Didn't wait longer to see how high it'd go, hoping that's enough.

Ive never encountered a water heater thermocouple much above 30mV. Thermopiles go to 600…something isn’t right
