Hi all. I need to replace an old (20 yrs) 50gal gas water heater. I normally do all my repair work around my home, cars, etc, because of budget restrictions. Semi-retired.
I live in Houston, TX.
Could someone(s) help me with some purchasing choices and setup?

Is anyone familiar with City of Houston water heater installation requirements?
I am picking up bits and pieces about ...
> Requires a city inspection / installation?
> Heater requires a platform underneath to elevate it?
> Etc.
Thanks in advance for "any" input. My heater had to be shut down due to a leaking old tank. We are w/out hot water right now.
