What about the male thread on the elbow.

I was at HD and looked at the parts they have in the BBQ parts section.
Not sure but the regulators they have there for connecting the Lp tanks to the BBQ have a hose attached with a threaded fitting. It specifically says for LP only and maybe the thread pitch is slightly different.

Just a thought, but when I converted my BBQ from LP to NG, I was able to pick all needed parts, including a quick release (similar to the compressed air fittings) from Barbeque's Galore, which are located all over California.

UPDATE: I wrote to the girl from Bull BBQ that I exchanged a couple email with regarding the conversion kit and I asked her about the fitting... she sent me a brand new back burner valve with the new flare fitting on it for free and next day shipping... Yeah!
