So a month ago a few plumbers came over and used connected their hose to a water source that hasn’t been used in years. When they tried to turn it off it was dripping non stop.

he put a cap on it and tightened it and I assumed it stopped

so today I’m doing laundry and notice a small puddle and I noticed that my water softener bypass valve is dripping slowly but surely. I have the valve set to bypass the water softener.

I tried to push the white button to see if that would help the leak and water started squirting out of the other end?? High pressure too. I moved it back to bypass the softener and it doesn’t seem to be leaking now.

what should I do? Why would anything the plumber did last month affect this?
