I'm a licensed general contractor in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I'm hoping to tap into some expertise of all you skilled plumbers here :) :) We recently completed a bathroom remodel for some awesome clients who decided to go with both a rain shower and a standard showerhead, positioned on different walls. They provided a Kohler valve along with a MasterShower® 2- or 3-way diverter valve (K-737-K-NA). Everything is functioning perfectly and working beautifully...

However, yesterday they reached out to ask if it’s possible to use both the showerhead and the rain shower simultaneously. With the Kohler diverter, we connected the shower and rain outlets as intended and capped off the third outlet. I was told that swapping out the cartridge and using a different trim kit might enable both outlets to run at the same time?? I'd hate to break the tile and do a union into that third outlet....

Can anyone confirm if this is the case or suggest the best approach? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Here are the instructions for that kohler diverter.

Follow these instructions and they will tell you exactly how to have a shared function.

Thanks for sharing this and your reply. I'm not sure I'm understanding the instructions properly, but are you referring to the following:

Accessories 1 and 2; you will need to remove the spacer, rotate the detent 180 degrees; then reinstall the spacer.
IMPORTANT! When testing K-737 operation, water will flow as follows: Accessory 1, Accessory 2. A combined function does not exist.

Read pages 5 and 6.

Right, on a k-737 it says a combined function does not exist.
