Hello All,
Wayne SWS50 shallow well jet pump.
Was pulled from house basement a few years ago as it was slow to recover and fill pressure tank
After sitting for a few years in garage wanted to use this as an irrigation pump for vegetable garden

Tore it apart and do not see any wear on impeller/diffuser surface thinking maybe silt or something had worn it bad.
When i stick inlet 1 1/4" rubber hose in 5 gallon bucket of water it will barely dribble out water out of discharge. If i bring the 1 1/4 hose out of bucket and dump water into hose from jug ,,,from above,,and 'force feed' it,,,it will blow water out the discharge this way like crazy! As if there is a suction leak but sure don't see anything obvious. I did even put a bead of silicone between diffuser and seal plate just to give it a whirl. The old pump isn't worth cost of a rebuild kit for what you can buy a low end submersible pump for now.
As much time as i've spent monkeying around with this i could have bought 5 new pumps ! :)
Just curious what anyone thinks it could be. At this point am going to spring for a REAL submersible pump,,, but just wonder why this old pump wont pull a prime.

TIA
