Hi All, I have a water softener that's not in use. I removed the two drums after putting the valves into bypass. There is a faucet coming off of that line which I'd like to keep. What I want to do is install a utility sink to make use of the faucet.
What I have left after removing the drums can be seen in the picture below. There are two lines coming in from the wall. The top line is tapped right into the main pipe on the other side of the wall. The bottom line goes into the wall and turns down.
Is that lower line a drain? (Seems weird to have a copper drain pipe) If it is a drain, can I connect the sink drain to that?
Are they both incoming water lines? If so, can I just cap one or do I need both? If both are incoming, can I just run a drain hose from the sink, thru the wall and into the rain gutter drain?
Here's a picture ...
