Is there any way to increase the flow rate of Pfister 05-31XA? I purchased this as a replacement for a single handle Moen, "tub only" wall mount filler but didn't notice the low flow rate of 2.5 gpm. There's a plastic assembly at the center of the valve housing that appears to me to be the limiting feature. I'm hoping I might be able to just remove this to get full flow to the tub.

Thanks,

Jon

I went cruising around the web trying to find an exploded diagram, without any luck. Hopefully someone else here has some experience with this valve, because I don't.

I'm guessing the plastic assembly is a mixing chamber. One half of it has two ports and each seems to lead off to one of the two valves. The other half is a single port and is open to the shower end of the tee, opposite the outlet to the tub (view side.) I'm not certain if the restriction is in plastic assembly or in the valves themselves so I'm thinkin' I might not mess with it and live with the 2.5 gpm or maybe just get a different valve:)

It may help. The reason for that section is if the faucet is used for a tub and shower valve using a transfer spout. It prevents the water from coming out of the shower head when you're filling the tub.

Hmm, I think I see that. It directs the flow towards the tub spout and when that's closed off it flows up through the open port to the shower. Anyways.. I installed the thing without messing with it but now think I should have been brave:)

Thanks for the info,

Jon
