I believe the temp was up to high (between 125 and 150). The household was 5 now down to two. 50 gallon water heater (standup). Pop off valve vented, and stopped. Changed it out, now there is a seal around the cold water inlet that appears to be a slow leak? I haven’t ever seen this issue before, the tank was full of water, what can be causing this please? I do know top of tank had water so I’m sure it had to drain off, but I am at a loss here. See pic attached.

If it doesn’t dry up then you have a leak.

If it does continue to leak then I’d remove the New T&P valve and wrap with three wraps of Teflon then apply some pipe dope and reinstall it.

Then if it still leaks I would assume the water heater tank is leaking and replace the heater.

I would look into the cause of the T&P valve activation.

Thank you!
