I just got new countertops and a new kitchen sink, going from a 2-bowl to a single bowl, and I'm trying to figure out how to re-do the plumbing so it would pass inspection (in Colorado). I think my main issue is that the disposal outlet and drain connect are now at roughly the same height, which I think is not good.

Here's what it currently looks like:

It seems like I need to lower the point where the p-trap connects to the drain pipe, but the bottom of the trap on the vent pipe is just about touching the bottom of the cupboard. What options do I have? My strong budgetary preference is to keep the sink and disposal I have installed. Does the vent have to connect below the drain, as it currently is, or could I swap them so the drain connects below the vent?

(Side note: I don't know if I handled the tee where the water filter connects to the cold water line. There's a slow leek there, but I can tackle that after I figure out the drain/vent plumbing.)

Update: Just in case anyone comes across this, I got it sorted. I was able to get some guidance from a plumber. In the process I realized that the pipe on the left was the dishwasher drain. I connected the dishwasher drain to the disposal, removed the dishwasher drain pipe, and re-plumbed so the disposal drains into the main drain pipe at a lower point.

I do!

I still need to get the dishwasher drain connection to the disposal clamped better, and the trap adapter attaching to the drain pipe seems to have a very small, slow leak so I'll try and find a better quality one to swap in. Other than that everything seems to be working well.
