How to make a drop into a cross?

I worked way too long today trying to get my drop head cable to go down in a cross. Does anyone have any swift little hacks that I could appropriate? I'm counting on you riverbirch rick.
It was on a lavatory, back to back bathrooms. Both 90'd into the cross somewhere in-between.
