This is my kitchen under construction.

On the left would be the sink/stove....the plumber installed a box to connect the washer pipes/drain in the area that would be behind the stove.

the pipes would run to the back, across the wall to the opposite side of the kitchen to connect to the washer (the back wall is about 7 feet).

it failed the rough inspection.

the inspector was a prick..came out of his car yelling at the contractor..and refused to say why it wasn't up to code.....I am waiting for the plumbing team to come back and try to figure it out...but am stressed about the possibility of not being able to use the washer..I am disabled and can't get out of the house to use a laundromat...

what is wrong with the set up, how can it be fixed to meet code (a pan is also being placed)?

I am ok with the pipes being outside the wall.

I am trying to add pics...my computer is not cooperating....I am going to reboot and try again

I really can't see much of the piping from your pictures.

In my area, if an inspector fails something, they must provide you with reference to a section of the code that it is not in compliance with.

Also, if you have hired a licensed plumbing contractor to perform this work, it is their job to argue points of code with the inspector if they believe that the inspector is incorrect.

the pics don't show the pipes..just what it looked like when the inspector showed up...only the box was in (on the left).

neither the inspector or the contractor is being very helpful...if i try to discuss anything with the inspector I am afraid he will just get madder and red tag the work...even if there is nothing wrong.

i have another pic of what it looked like before..i can try to add it...as far as I know they were going to put pipes back in a similar manner.

i don't think it is possible to argue the plan with this inspector...and its impossible to argue any point without knowing what his issue is--that he won't say.....

would it be against code to have the pipes running along the outside of the wall? is it an issue with running them along an exterior wall?

the repairs are actually being paid for by the state/town through a grant for low income home owners...so I don't have much say....they picked the contractor and told them what to do...i only get to pick out a counter top, cabinets, and stove within a certain budget...i am getting this done for free--I am in no position to fight with the contractor to get on top of this.

basically--how should pipes/hoses be run from the left side (near the sink in the middle of the kitchen) to the washer which will be in the back opposite corner...there is no other place to put it....the dishwasher, sink, stove take up most of the other wall...a lot of people in the condo complex have a washer..most are not installed to code.

the inspector might not be wrong...but we don't know what it is that is the problem.

on the other side of the box is the wall between the bathroom...that is where the pipes are connected to the main lines..i'll see if i can put up a pick of that.
