Hope you can help a novice plumber out here.
For my bathtub replacement, i have a 2 inch threaded p-trap, but a 1-1/2 inch drain pipe.
There is nut that fits perfect, but I can't get a 1-1/2 inch slip joint washer to fit there. there isn't enough threads on the nut, plus there was never one there when i removed the old tub the first time (not sure how it stayed sealed - magic?).
What are you supposed to use? Just plumbers putty? Any recommendation on brass or PVC drain/overflow should be used in this application?
