How do I locate tub filler controls and spout at opposite ends of my soaking tub?

Greetings everyone,

I will soon be building a tub deck around my Jacuzzi soaking tub and I'd like to install the plumbing fixtures for maximum convenience. I'd prefer to have the handles and hand shower on one end of the tub and the spout at the other. I haven't purchased the fixtures yet because I'm not sure about the configuration and connection requirements. Is this hard to do? Will the addition of a hand shower complicate things? I'll be doing my own work, so I'm trying to plan accordingly.

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Michael

Unless you plan on having two seperate valves {one for hand held one for tub spout} you will need some type of diverter to go from tub to hand held. The easiest way is to have a tub spout at one end and the hand held at the other is to use PEX to feed the spout assuming it is the one at the opposite end as the valve. The easiest and cheepest way to divert is to have a tub spout with a pull up diverter but when using pex to feed the spout the resistance caused by the pex fittings will likely cause the hand held to drip constantly as the fittings will restrict flow to the tub just as the diverter restricts flow and forces the water to travel to the shower. SOOO my advice is to plumb with pex but use a valve set up with diverter built into the valve or one with a seperate diverter I hope this all makes some sense

Thanks for the suggestion. I do prefer a spout with a "non-integral" diverter, so your advice will be helpful in planning the installation.
