Hello I wanted to ask a question about a project im working on at my house. I have a water line that is in the basement at the ground and my copper was damaged. I am deciding to start from the ground with pex and run it to my water heater and leave copper from the heater to the rest of the house. The problem im having is figuring out what kind of fitting I would need. I've looked only need and at the stores but haven't figured it out yet. I am a truck driver and am away from home for few months at a time and would like to get this project done next time I come home. I've included a picture of the ground joint and the elbow that was originally put in. Can you guys help me find what kind of fitting I would need to put in to this type of grounding house that I can use to connect directly to the pex and on. Thanks.

This is by the way in the basement in the foundation. Some sort of rubber tubing. The rest after the elbow is copper that was painted. This was how it was when I got the house.

That is a barbed by mip fitting. Is your system a well system. I do not think that would be ok for a city system. I would get a female by pex fitting if there is such an animal.

That's poly pipe, they make high quality barbed ends. Don't go to Lowe's or any place like that. There parts aren't as high quality as what you can get at a real plumbing supply house. Correct me if I'm wrong but that looks to be one inch coming in from the meter. They make one inch male barbed 90s that you can get that are much higher quality than what you have in there now. Get that male barbed end and then reduce directly off of it down to the necessary size.

Nvm looks like 3/4. Either way they make brass barbed ends that will work nicely for this. Looks like that plastic junk is where the majority of your issue will be.

is it leaking?
You want to pull that 90 fitting out of that poly pipe coming out of the wall/foundation :confused:

If that be the case, You are very bold.
Unless you plan on digging up the other side of that foundation/wall for access to the rest of that poly pipe, I would leave that the heck alone.

good luck.
