Last night I went to get a glass of water and I could not even get the glass close to my face it smelled so strong, I'm not sure what the smell was but my thought was that it smelled like gasoline.

I refilled the glass several times and smelled it again then ran the water for a few minutes and it went away - as far as I could tell. And it's not back this morning.

I called the water company this morning and they said that they have received no other complaints and that the problem is not on their end but rather something going on in my apartment building.

It's a big building with businesses on the first floor and I'm on the third floor.

I also ran the water in the bathrooms and it wasn't happening in there, it was cold water that had the smell.

So what could cause something like that? And now what do I do? I'm worried that there might be something still wrong with my water even though I can't smell it anymore.
