Flow randomly stops, clean water now discolored and slight metal taste

we have a well, have owned the house a little over a year, the water has always tasted great. Recently our water flow has started to randomly drop in pressure or stop flow completely. Even more recently the water has started to become discolored and taste slighlty mettalic. A co-worker told me that i need to change a filter. I have no filter that i can find.

I have a 20gal well x trol (wx-202) tank and that goes right the the water heater (propane) There is a gauge on the line between the tank and the water heater, that is reading ~45psi. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated

Has it been dry in your area? I did have a well when weather was dry it would run low turn all our whites orange.
If you cannot find filter it will be big to take care of a well . Should get one.
