I have an FP4222J-08 pump that is going out....won't pump past 38psi. At this point I am just going to replace the pump as I quite sure its around 20 years old. I wanted to know what my replacement options are. The new model number is fp4222-08. Is this just the pump without the jet adapter? I also would like to know what options I have for upgrading to a 1HP pump. I don't know the depth of my well, so all I have to go on is the pump I have now.

You couldn't have picked a cheaper pump if you had tried. Why don't you go with something with a little quality? I don't know how long Flotec's have been available, but the ones I'm familiar with are all plastic and they are about as good as their cousin the flotec bladder tank. They both last around a year and a half.

Without knowing if your system is a deep well or a shallow well, I can't tell you what you need. Do you have one pipe going out to the well or two pipes? If only one pipe, is it 1-1/4" or two inch?

Speed is right. I don’t think Flotec has been around for 20 years, much less had one last 20 years. But if it is running and just not building enough pressure, the jet nozzle maybe clogged. I would check the jet before making any changes. With jet pumps you need to keep the lines from freezing, keep the jet nozzle clean, and eliminate as much cycling on and off as you can.
