Please see the attached PDF.

Is the new floor drain tying in the the existing floor drain before the vent a code violation? I was under the impression that you are given a certain distance that you can do a combination waste and vent as long as it is on the same floor. The new floor drain is 10' from the existing vent location.

If this is a code violation can someone please explain the solution with minimal impact on the existing structure.

Thank you,
Robbie

Are there any other possible scenarios? I know its a mechanical room but the client would rather not have a pipe coming out the middle of the mechanical room floor if possible.

Thanks for everyone's help!

If you need guidance, submit an RFI to the Architect asking him where he wants the vent

that way the responsibility is shifted on to him and not you.

if the client comes back and does not like the location, you will be paid to move it.

I cannot view the file but for record, under my code, an emergency floor drain 3" or larger does not require a vent.

National Plumbing Code of Canada section 2.5.1.1(3)
A trap that serves as a floor drain need not be protected where:

A) the size of the trap is not less than 3 inches
B) the length of the fixture drain is not less than 450mm
C) the fall on the fixture drain does not exceed its size
