I just had a plumbing company come out and fix a clogged main sewer line. They had to snake it twice and were able to remove tree roots. They used a clean out in my basement to do this. The clean out cap was original to the house (70 years old) and after removing it, we were unable to put it back on. It had rusted and corroded. They suggested purchasing an Oatey wing nut expansion cap. I bought multiple sizes and none of them will fit correctly. Apparently, the pipes are orange burg.

Any advice on how to cap this line so I don't have sewer gases pouring in my basement? The 4 inch Oatey rubber expansion cap (seen here) is too big. And the 3 inch Oatey rubber expansion cap is too small.

You might be able to use a Fernco or No Hub coupling with a new adapter? As far as I remember a 4" Fernco will fit on the hub of a 3" cast iron fitting. Would have to test to make sure...
